This year the Dream Chasing experience has expanded greatly to 40 teens (20 boys and 20 girls).

Dream Chasing 2004 began in October 2003 as students began learning about different colleges and universities around the county.   Students did research using the college exploration website www.review.com  to learn about college screening and the selection process.

Over the 14 months of the Dream Chasing experience students learn about different professional careers and the construction trades; what motivates them; their likes and equally important -- their dislikes.  Students study the differences in colleges:  student population; rural versus urban settings; ethnic and gender breakdown; graduation rates; return rate (freshman to sophomore year); both athletic and academic scholarships and the importance of a strong high school class load.

In April 2004 students took four  "local" trips in Milwaukee, WI; Madison, WI; Chicago, IL;  and Evanston, IL.  Students learned met with students on campus and talked to the admissions offices on campus.  After visiting Marquette and MSOE in the summer of 2004, the activities will culminate in the "Dream Tour Excursion" on July 31, 2004 for 10 days.

The actual cost of the trip is approximately $1,400 per teen, however each family only pays $200 per child.  For families with more than one teen attending, the cost is reduced for the second and third child.

Teens raise approximately 1/3 the cost of the trip through fundraisers.  We believe this builds character and self determination.  The remainder is raised through contributions from foundations and corporations.
